EYNON YOUTH... OF FIRST AIR... SENT TO AUSTRALIA
"My thoughts are with you on Mother's Day. I'm in the best of health. Love."
This terse, filial cablegram was received late Friday by Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Grabin, Eynon, from their son Stephen, with the U.S. Air Corps in Australia.
... young Grabin, a graduate of Blakely High School, enlisted in the Air Corps when 18 years old. This was in May, 1941. He trained at Langley Field, Va., later transferring to Bangor, Maine. He pursued a night course at Bangor University on internal combustion engines.
He then went to an Air Corps technical school in Boston, Mass., and studied plane mechanics. He was graduated from there in February. Late in February he was sent to Australia with the first U.S. contingent.
